This past weekend I participated in the Filter Photo Festival workshops and portfolio reviews. I had a wonderful time and gained extremely valuable insight and advice into my work. This was the best photo festival I’ve been to in my entire career. I’m very grateful to have met many people that I’d known previously as acquaintances, or not at all. The photo community may seem small at times, but it’s infinite, as is the genius of those working in the discipline.

http://www.giftofgiftof.com/gogo-2011-artists/up-for-vote-on-august-20th/

HOUSTON, TX – Gift of Gift of is pleased to announce its second annual Exhibition and Vote Party
featuring the work of 18 emerging photographers. Gift of Gift of 2011 will take place at Spacetaker’s
Artist Resource Center and Gallery on Saturday August 20, 2011 from 7p.m. til 11 p.m.
Gift of Gift of 2011 is a chance for art patrons, artists, and art lovers to come together to enjoy
non-stop photo fun! Dance the night away or enjoy a personal photo-shoot while viewing the 17
images in the exhibition. Once guests identify their favorites they will cast their votes for the
artworks they like the most.

As the evening closes, the votes will be tallied and the artworks with the highest number of votes
will become part of Gift of Gift of 2011’s collective donation to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Ticket sales are the funding source for the purchases. The amount of artwork purchased is utterly
dependent on the number of party-goers in attendance; therefore, the more people who attend,
the better the chance of purchasing all of the works. All work is priced at $300 or less.

Tickets for Gift of Gift of’s Exhibition & Vote Party cost $30 pre-sale and $40 at the door (cash only
at the door). Tickets include libations, delish bites, great music and three votes. Pre-sale tickets
will be available for purchase online (for $30) at www.giftofgiftof.com until Friday, August 19.
After an overwhelming response to the call for entries from artists living all over the world, GoGo
was finally able to narrow down the selections from 114 artists to the final 18. In addition to a few
local Houstonians, this year’s selection includes artwork from around the US, the UK, and Canada.
This year’s participating artists are: Lisa Adamucci, Steven Beckly, Nan Brown,
Stephanie Dean, Dennis DeHart, Eliot Dudik, Clare Gallagher, Dominic Lippillo and
Mark Schoon, Lung Liu, Jennifer McNichols, Emily Peacock, Jennifer Ray, Amy Stevens,
David Welch, Krista Wortendyke, Dennis Yermoshin, and Laura Young.
